Product information : INTRODUCTION Water heating in the United States accounts for 15.5% of site energy consumption in the residential building sector, making it the second highest energy consuming end-use on a site basis to space heating (DOE 2009). A key component of efforts to reduce energy consumption by water heaters and other appliances is a test method and metric that predicts the efficiency of different pieces of equipment and allows consumers to make decisions based on expected energy consumption. ASHRAE Standard 118.2 (ASHRAE 2006) documents a test method for rating the energy efficiency of residential water heaters. In the United States, the Department of Energy (DOE) stipulates a nearly identical test as part of regulations that dictate minimum standards... Read More.
